New Edition's Encore: Celebrating Four Decades with a Las Vegas Residency

In 2024, New Edition, the legendary R&B group, will grace the stage of the Encore Theater at Wynn Las Vegas for a much-anticipated Las Vegas residency. This residency, a dream come true for the band, is set to begin on February 28, 2024, and will conclude after six shows on March 9, 2024. The announcement of this residency comes as a significant moment for New Edition, marking their 40th anniversary in the music industry.

New Edition's decision to host a residency in Las Vegas follows in the footsteps of other major artists like Usher, Bruno Mars, and Adele, who have also embraced the city's vibrant entertainment scene. The group's enthusiasm for this career milestone is palpable. They have expressed their excitement about performing in what they consider the entertainment capital of the world, promising their fans a unique show experience that they won't find anywhere else.

The residency announcement is not the only recent highlight for New Edition. The group recently performed at the 2023 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony, where they paid tribute to The Spinners and the iconic Soul Train host Don Cornelius. This performance was particularly notable as they celebrated some of the soul group's classics, including “I’ll Be Around,” “Could It Be I’m Falling in Love,” and “The Rubberband Man.”

New Edition has a rich history of success and influence in the music world. They first hinted at a Las Vegas residency in 2021 after signing with Creative Artists Agency (CAA). Prior to the residency, they embarked on two successful tours: The Culture Tour in 2022 and the Legacy Tour in the spring of 2023, where they were joined by artists like Keith Sweat, Guy, and Tank. These tours were a testament to their enduring appeal and ability to draw crowds.

Their career has been marked by numerous achievements, including recent certifications from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for their hit singles. "Can You Stand the Rain," from their 1988 album "Heart Break," was certified 2x platinum, and they also received platinum and gold awards for "If It Isn’t Love" and "Mr. Telephone Man," respectively. These songs have not only topped charts but also left a lasting imprint on the R&B genre.

The group celebrated the 40th anniversary of their debut album "Candy Girl" in 2023, further highlighting their longevity and impact in the music industry. With the upcoming residency in Las Vegas, New Edition is set to add another remarkable chapter to their already impressive legacy, promising fans an unforgettable experience.
